Sarah Ellen Hughes Quartet also featuring Dave O'Higgins

Thursday May 20th 8.30 p.m. (doors open 8.00)

Sarah has been singing, to critical acclaim, on the London jazz scene since 2006. During this time, she secured an 8-month residency at Pizza on the Park, working with such musicians as Dave O'Higgins, Jim Hart, Iain Mackenzie and Gareth Lockrane.

Expect to hear a mature mix of standards and original songs, presented with class and style by this superb jazz quintet.

Sarah broke on to the London jazz scene whilst spending 3 years as the principal vocalist of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, most notably performing at Ronnie Scott's (Jan 07 & Jan 08), Pizza Express Dean Street, and The Stables at Wavendon.

Sarah's current quartet features the cream of the London jazz scene: Darren Altman, Rick Simpson and Tom Farmer.

Her first album, ‘Darning the Dream,' has been well received and has allowed her to secure a 21-date Jazz Services tour in mid 2010. This album is a mature mix of standard songs and original tunes, showcasing the kind of material that makes Sarah unique - while showing that she has the versatility to defy categorisation. Sarah has already grabbed the attention of several leading jazz singers including Claire Martin and Ian Shaw. Ian also appears on Sarah's album in two stunning duets.
